"Problem" - kids have a Nintendo Switch that they have just started using a headset with...they wanted wireless. But....

The Switch, in Nintendo's wisdom, can pair with a bluetooth headset...but the mic doesn't work this way!

Using wired mode for the headset it works fine, including the mic.

I'm wondering if I can get a device that plugs into the 3.5mm socket on the Switch that the headset can connect to via bluetooth, fooling the switch into thinking it's all connected up via a wired connection...?

("Just use the wire" is the current approach...but it now has me intrigued biggrin).

Yeah, 3.5mm Bluetooth adapters are two a penny. Not sure bout mic support though.... You'd need to check each model but they are on Amazon starting at less than a tenner. I have one for air planes.

Gotta beg the question why they need wireless for something in their hands? :-) I guess you've shaken your head over this too lol.

At a glance the ones with a mic seem to have it built into the unit itself. Wont be great for chatting in game.

To be slightly fair to them, it's for when they have the unit plugged into a big screen and I've drilled into them that I don't want them with their faces pressed up to the screen. So I'm reaping what I've sown to a degree. (My "never let a tech challenge drop" approach seals it biggrin).

Had seen the ones with built in mic and in the circumstances agree that these are likely to be poor...some of them are ambiguously worded so it's hard to tell if the mic is via bluetooth or the built in one.

Will keep browsing. (Nonplussed as to why Nintendo crippled bluetooth this way. Can only be because they wanted to force people to use their online service/app, through which you can use voice chat.
