I'm looking to increase my swimming sessions, but I do tend to get bored after 30-40 minutes. I've realised that if I could be listening to something, I would probably be quite happy to carry on for longer.

Problem is I've no idea what the solution is. Is there such a thing as waterproof headphones that would pair to my apple watch for example?

Any suggestions welcomed. As long as they aren't £500 biggrin

https://www.techradar.com/best/best-waterproof-hea...

Some of these have a built in player some don’t

Plus

Some kind of Apple (?) / Garmin / Other Sports watch that can stream music.

The cost of the watch may push up funds.

A quick search seems to throw up several "swimming" headphones.

I think I'd pair it with a smartwatch rather than a phone though, since I'm not sure where you'd keep the phone unless you use one of those waterproof pouch things which I think would get a bit annoying when swimming.

Beware

I went down the iWatch route for running - reasoning that it was easier to get a watch I could download podcasts to, rather than carrying a heavier and bulkier phone.

For the first few months it was fine but after that it's become an absolute pig to sync any podcasts to - taking all night sometimes, just to load 2 or 3 podcasts, when it's supposed to be able to hold 10.

Googling the issue, it seems to be an Apple 'thing' to which there is no cure

Get some 'bone conduction' headphones designed for swimming.

I have a pair of (non Swimming) Shockz headphones for outdoor and sports use (walking/running/cycling etc) and they are excellent. There's a fully waterproof version with built-in mp3 player designed for swimming. I intend to get a set once I start regularly swimming again (i had given it up after the lockdowns started and have been meaning to get back into the habit, will wait until the inevitable New Year's rush dies down).

I have tried another waterproof player and in-ear headphones but they were not that good. Really fiddly setup, the buds kept coming out of my ears and it made the ears prone to fill with water. Not to mention sounding pretty rubbish. Bone conduction is the way to go.
