As per the title the socket is broken (I can see the metal strips are misaligned). Would this be covered under warranty as the unit is two months old?

I've tried customer services but it's shut.

TIA

I'd imagine you might struggle with that one.

In nearly 30 years working in IT, I've never seen an ethernet port damaged like you describe, so I'd imagine there is a strong chance they will say it's down to misuse.

We used to see this occasionally - usually on laptops where someone had tried to push a RJ11 telephone connector into the network socket. Never got anywhere with warranty.

How do you think it happened?

Connect it via WIFI, claim it's always been connected via Wi-Fi until recently when you tried to connect a cable?

Assuming these are the 8 thin ones deep inside the socket then they can only be damaged by insertion of the wrong type of connector or a screwdriver or similar.

Looking at some pics of the PCBA, the connector is surface mount so is not an easy repair, can be replaced with the right tools if the correct part is available.

If you need cable ethernet you could try using a usb to ethernet adapter in one of the USB ports if not being used, something like this, no idea if it will work though.
