Anyone using Meshtastic?
I stumbled across it on YouTube. It's basically an off-grid mesh messaging system running at around 900Mhz. You have the little dongle with its built in antenna, and you use your phone connected via Bluetooth to send and receive messages over the LongFast network. The more devices around, the greater the distance for comms. Range between devices is around 1 to 1.5 miles.
Pretty neat.
(I appreciate this will mostly be of interest to radio hams)

If anyone was using this, you could ask them on the mesh perhaps?
It sounds like a more amateur (if that's possible?) version of BOWMAN,better off with map and nokia?
25 years ago, Iused to sit in an office listening to the bloke 2 desks away phoning up all the people he'd been spraying morse code at the previous evening.

When I got my node back in february or so, there was only one other node in my area - now there’s probably 50 or so.
I lost interest in it almost as quickly as I got into it - because it because it “just works” and unless there’s a shtf situation it’s not much further use.
But it’s interesting playing with it and it’s relatively cheap to get into.

As I said, I don’t think it’s got any practical purpose for most people, it’s fun learning though. For example I made a great antenna (much better than the rubbish that comes with Heltecs) using a short bit of twin & earth mains cable.
Typically I ‘see’ a couple of hundred nodes, of which 25 - 30 will be online.
