Hi all,

My partner is starting up her wedding cake business again which she wound down due to us having a baby and also loosing her studio as her parents decided to move 2.5 hours away to a place they have no connection to (her studio was in her parents old house).

Previously she hand drew all the designs, I have a few mates who are tattoo artists etc and all use Procreate on Apple devices does any body have any recommendations for similar for Android or Windows?

We are a fully Android family with the exception of my work provided iPhone, I've warmed to iDevices having had an old 2010 MBP a few years ago. Her windows laptop works well but has an issue where it takes many attempts to turn on, she mentioned she wants to replace it next year and when I mentioned the best bang for buck is probably the Macbook Air was greeted with a firm no. Guessing for drawing though she would still require a MBA and Tablet.

So I'm thinking either a 2-1 Windows machine, 2-1 ChromeOS device or Android tablet and keyboard all of which will be used with drawing stylus.

I would look at Samsung devices as they often come with a built-in stylus and have built in drawing software. Both my S23 ultra and Tab 8 ultra include the stylus in the purchase price. There's a Samsung keyboard case which works well for the tab 8 ultra. I've also used Cava on the tab, being able to draw on screen is very handy.

This requirement has iPad with a v2 Pencil written all over it. It's tax deductible if she's using it for business.

You sound bitter about this. Their life no?
^^^ This.

They're obviously mightily pissed-off at the parents because of losing the free studio, or it would never have been mentioned.

In response to the 2 comments above, its not just about the studio, yes it was a blow, but its the fact they have moved away from grandchildren and now they moan about the drive to come back. Her mum has admitted she wishes they hadn't of moved.

It does, as I said were an Android/Linux/Windows family, but I would just get a iPad for this but as soon as I mention Apple its a no.

Think Lenovo tab + stylus might be the way to go + some kind of software.

And you’ll regret it.

I have a Lenovo X1 and an ipad Pro.

ProCreate on the iPad with the stylus is fab.

If this is at the heart of your business it’s a no brainer. It can be used independently of your existing Android network.

Mrs Shed is a textile and pattern designer, she bought an iPad Pro (big one at well over a grand) specifically for Procreate.

To be honest I might just buy her an iPad for her birthday and be like use it haha. I've warmed to my work iPhone. Previous to that the only apple devices I've had are an original iPhone 3G and a 2010 MBP which I sold for more than I bought it for and that made way for a Dell XPS Ubuntu edition.
