Just going through a cupboard and found a Motorola Razr i which came out in 2012.
Had a look on eBay and these phones are selling for up to £30.
Why would anyone buy a 10 yr old phone? It's unlikely many/any of the apps will work.
I'd imagine it won't be the only ancient phone selling on eBay.
If someone just wanted a phone for calls, texts they could get a brand new one for similar money

People like to buy back their favourite phone, or their first phone. Nostalgia. Or even buy back all their phones for a collection.

Parts maybe, or perhaps specific single uses.

I've bought cheap old phones before, to run a single app, say a webcam for remote monitoring for example, or a wireless router.

Back then the Razr, and other phones, didn't have apps.

2012 Razr I isn't a flip phone is it like the original Razr? IIRC it ran a ported version of Android 4.

Some people need multiple burner phones that don’t leave a massive social media and tracking trail. Use it for a few weeks, bin it and the PAYG sim card, move onto the next.

Maybe some people collect old tech?

I personally have quite a collection of old mobile phones dating back to 1986, but then my career did involve being part of the R&D for mobile phones, and its as much personal history as anything else.
