I often listen to alot of recordings and podcasts from my iphone in my car. The engine tends to drown out alot of the sound. Was wondering if anyone can suggest a portable loud speaker that I can connect to my phone and use on 4 hr journeys please

Thanks for any advice

hehe

What's the car, and are you playing it via the stereo?

I have this battery last for ages. I recently went to Germany in my friends Clio track car with the exhaust being so loud you cant talk or hear the radio. I put this in the car and it was a game changer so much hes now bought one for when he is in the car!

In the absence of being able to connect directly to your car, I find the Bose Soundlink Micro to be pretty good. It has a strap to secure it, but it's also quite flat, so will sit fairly securely on the dash.

You can get a bluetooth to radio device that's powered by a cigarette lighter socket for a tenner.

Lots of useful advice given here. Mine is that alot isn't a word. I suspect you mean "a lot".

The emberton speakers are great. I've got a Emberton II and it's brilliant for the size. Certainly loud enough and decent sound too

I have one of these.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pioneer-Rayz-Rally-Confer...

Roughly doubles the volume of my iPhone 12 Pro Max, very clear but not a lot of bass. It lives in my backpack and I use it for conference calls and listening to music in hotel rooms which it is pretty good at. Best thing is you don’t have to charge it as it takes power from the phone, you can pass through charge your iPhone if you have a usb socket in the car. Depending on how loud your car is it might not be loud enough.

OMG get an Apple Car Play enabled head unit installed already. You’ve got to be mad to try and fiddle with a bluetooth speaker driving a car as well as a phone.

Thanks all for the various options. I think Kev's Anker soundcore is most suitable for the general use I need it for - I think it will help alot .lol

This.

If you are having to turn music or podcasts up so loud that you need a bluetooth speaker, then you are no doubt in the zone of hearing damage, especially on a longer car journey.

I wouldn't be doing adding to the noise with a louder speaker.

I know people who have developed tinnitus from driving louder cars or operating louder machinery, and playing music loud enough to be heard over the top of it, adding to the volume.

Bluetooth speaker in a car to play music from a phone is soooo budget ‘oughties. Sigh.
