Dear all
Am looking at streaming from a slate with a USB "C" port. If I get a converter adapter which goes from "C" to HDMI . Will it work the same (picture/sound )as if the slate had a HDMI port originally?

Cheers

It should do, or does in most cases.

Yes if said slate support display port alt mode through the usb c port. If it’s data only then no.

Sometimes........ Some apps are locked down so won't allow you to plug them into a big TV and stream.

Doing this with a Chromebook.

As said above, not all apps allow it. More 4 for example, won't allow video to be played on an external display. Same with some other streaming apps

Thanks all. It's Youtube I am looking to stream , mainly. I'm targeting a windows platform, so I can use Firefox.

Maybe I would be better off seeking out a 2 in 1 laptop that has a HDMI port, to keep things simple.

This question was prompted as I was looking at a very reasonably priced Microsoft Surface tablet. They only have a usb "C" port, and a usb "A". No hdmi.

Cheers

No probs. I do it from an Ipad USB-C connector on one end of the cable, HDMI on the other. As other said some apps won't allow you to mirror across, think ITVx, C4, Sky, others netflix, prime, C5, BBC, Youtube no probs
