I just want to do some basic vlogging at my desk but slightly frustratingly Teams seems to require you to be in a meeting to record yourself, the laptop camera App is very basic and my phone (Galaxy Fold 3) also, like the camera App, won't put in a background in the same way Teams does.

Am I missing something or is there a way to give me alternative backgrounds when I vlog?

What's the issue with using Teams (or indeed Zoom)? Can't you create a private meeting and do it that way? Could also switch off your name or rename yourself for the Vlog?

I mean, if it's anything like Zoom, you can create a meeting that nobody knows exists.

Be careful doing it like that. IME meeting recordings are often highly compressed already, depending on your purpose.
For some screen recording as well, Clipchamp is very simple.

Good point.

I only just discovered that you can record using CapCut. It's pretty powerful and free.
