Microsoft Office installation - stuck in an expensive loop
Discussion
Hi IT gurus.
I have been using MS office 2019 for a while on a Dell machine. I use the machine for work and also needed MS Project. I bought MS Project from a MS reseller and they sent me a download .img file and an activation code for around £18.99.
I tried to install this and got stuck. The seller advised me to run a tool which uninstalled all previous versions of Office. I ran this and then installed Project and hey presto all good. I used project and then realised that all my other Office applications were missing. No Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Arghhhh.
I have now bought a newer version of Office 2021 from another reseller and am scared to install it as it might overwrite Project. What should I do? Any advice please?
Also, I noted that on installation it keeps telling me that this is Office 365 - does this mean a subscription?

Did you buy Project 365 or Project 2019/2021?
It probably didn't like the subscription version being installed alongside the standalone/lifetime version.
The uninstall too did what it was supposed to...it uninstalled ALL MS-Office components. You could probably have just reinstalled them from your original media/download location.
However, now that you've also bought the standalone/lifetime Office 2021, you probably want to buy Project Standard 2021 (or Project Professional 2021) to complete the set.
Just waiting for someone else to come along and say that they're just reselling dodgy volume licences.
