I don't know, things like this wind me right up!!I've been looking after a dear old lady up the road from me who has been left paralized by a stroke, she can't walk, stand now.
She is dependant on her Tablet for emails from her relatives in Australia.
She was expecting some important ones today but Microsoft in their wisdom decided today nope,we're not letting you log into your emails??
I tried to reset her password as she couldn't find her old one, this didn't work and they then decided to lock me out after a few guesses at the password too, they then wanted her life story, name, address, date of birth, sock colour, how many times she urinates in a day etc and even people she's emailed lately, nope, still not good enough for ol' Microsoft, not enough 'details' seemingly, what the hell do i do??
I have a rather distraught 93 year old on my hands here!!

Quickly set her a Gmail account up whilst you sort out the Microsoft debacle.

Gmail is fairly bulletproof and it’s always good to have a backup.

Could the account have been compromised?

I tend to think the Gmail suggestion may be the quickest way to get back up and running.

Microsoft had issues this morning l. If youd just waited a few hrs probably would have been all ok.

As for the situation you are in now, well you look like a potential hacker to ms so what do you expect ?

Resetting passwords should require a couple of extra steps. Its not thier fault you dont know the answers to security questions. When you/she does get access, put your email in as a recovery account.

Does the neighbour have any other device which she had used to access it in the past?
If yes, fire one of those up.
Might get a few clues etc

Was the only was I could recover my mothers when she killed it!
