What size screen do you want? 13/14/15" - it guides the choice.

I am guessing 15", as that's what has been linked to.

We have the cheaper Lenovo of those two in the office. It's fine. Fires up in a few seconds and does everything officey we need anyway. I even do basic video editing on it.

yes also looked on Dell refurbished outlet happy to have a look at one just so many models to look at

i dont mind buying a lets call it an non mainstream laptop if i have problem would repairers turn it away being not mainstream brand and not want to work on them or is this price category a throwaway once it starts to becomes problematic

are there any brands to stay away from

hp
Asus
Acer
Lenovo
Samsung

these all look to be in the price catagory, which order would you put these at

I'm not sure there is much difference these days between the known brands - all the hardware inside is supplied by the same companies anyway (CPU, motherboard, HD, etc etc).

As for the 2 you linked to, they're almost identical chipsets as far as performance goes. CPU benchmark has the Intel slightly ahead, but the AMD has a lower number of samples so it's hard to know how robust that score is. Either one will be fine and any difference between the 2 will not be noticeable as a user. The AMD is a new chip, and the laptop has faster RAM but you can't upgrade it, whereas the Intel is an older chip but if you wanted to you could add more RAM in future.

Honestly, there is so little to choose between them I'd probably just go for the cheapest of the 2, maybe the AMD edges it slightly as it's a newer model?
