Outlook.live.com - copy emails to desktop?

I use outlook.live.com for my email. I have a number of folders that are now very large so I want to copy the emails therein to a folder on my desktop.

I thought drag and drop would work but it's not allowed, also there is no export or "save as" type feature. I can see third party apps exist but you have to login to them with your email credentials which I will not do for security reasons.

Is there any way to do this? Thanks.

Why do you want to do this?

If you set a local email application to the account of your Outlook mail can you not simply drag and drop them once you've synced to the local machine?

It’s no issue when accessing email on my laptop as that has loads of space. But on my phone it’s nearly out of space so I want to move some of the many GB of emails out of outlook folders into my laptop folders.
