We've got a Bosch dishwasher that is Alexa compatible (Home Connect).
Should be getting switched to Octopus Go EV tariff in the next few days, so I'm trying to work out the best way of getting the most from the cheap overnight rate.

We only run the dishwasher 2 or 3 times a week, generally when we are about to run out of plates or coffee mugs, rather than on specific days. The machine has a delay button, but it only cycles 3, 6 and 9 hours.

What I'd like to do is set up an Alexa routine that will start the dishwasher at 1am, but only on the days we actually want it to run.

I can see how to set up a daily schedule, or a selected days schedule.
I can also see how to just tell the dishwasher to start straight away on the correct program using a voice command, maybe even with a preset delay.

What I can't figure out is how to use a voice command to start the dishwasher at an actual time in the early hours. Basically, how to trigger a scheduled event only when a voice command is given?

You essentially want to "wait until", which I don't think Alexa can do.

As an alternative, could you simple schedule it to start at the time you want every day, but leave it (say door open a few mm) in a state where it can't actually wash on the days you don't want it to.

So basically if door fully closed, it'll run every day at 00:30 (or whenever Go starts), if you leave it a crack open, it won't run.

That's the simplest I can think of without going off into the realms of HA, nodered etc.

Is it not just a simple case of talking to Alexa when you want it to run “Alex switch on dishwasher at 2.00 am tomorrow” as with any other connected device.

Okay, it’s not using “schedules” or “events” but has the same effect and only runs when it meant to run.

I suppose it could be that simple. I had no idea it was possible to do that with a voice command.
