Exports to China must make a decent chunk of Nvidia’s profits.

I wonder if they will come grovelling back to the gamers

Nope - ITAR and/or EAR restrictions would make it prohibitive to Nvidia to do that. Penalties include everything short of getting dry-bummed by the President.

I suspect China will step up their industrial espionage and nick the necessary information to bake their own.
