For the past 2 months I have been getting numerous texts and calls from legitimate unknown people, in varying states of annoyance, asking me why I called them. Having spoken to a couple of them it seems my number is being spoofed and used for spam/cold calling.

Checked my bills and phone and there are no extra calls to be found, as such my provider won't / can't do anything.
I have reported the issue to Action Fraud, but don't expect much in response.

As a former IT Security Engineer, I am very wary and switched on to social engineering, etc, but have no real experience with cell networks / VOIP stuff.

What can I do to resolve this? I really do not want to go through the headache of changing the phone number I've had for 10+ years.

spoofing CLID is simple, I actually do this with Skype Out. I would not say you've been cloned but someone decided simply to leverage your number to appear "legit".

Simplest would be to change your number with your provider.
