The cable's on the way out on my wife's USB headset that she uses for video calls. We have Pantronics Blackwire C3220's at work which are good, so bought myself the slightly fancier C5220 some time back, therefore my default choice would be another pair of Plantronics, but are there any better suggestions in the <£50 range?

The main thing is a decent noise canceling microphone, with her old Logitech you got way more background noise than with my Pantronics.

If you don't mind USB-A rather than USB-C, as part of my post-retirement clear-out I have a set of Plantronic C320s, with new velour pads to replace the leatherette plastic. Yours if you want them

Oh, just noticed you're outside the UK

Thanks for the offer, but yeah, not in UK.

Good point on USB port though, her old ones (and mine) are USB-A but I hadn't thought about more and more stuff being USB-C these days.

Have a look at Jabra. I’ve got their wireless headset and it’s brilliant ans the noise cancelling is brill too. My wife and I share a office and my team can never hear her on a call.

Why does it have to be wired?

Because when she forgets to charge them and they pack up half way through a call it'll be my fault for suggesting them biggrin

It appears she fears change so a pair of C3220's have been ordered.

Plantronics Blackwire is the easy answer, can't really go wrong with them.

I'm moving everything to USB-C, I try to avoid any USB-A peripherals now.

Alternatively you can get a USB to 3.5 mm dongle and it opens up a whole lot of options. I did that with a set of Rocat ELO X's I got for £30.

I went the USB route because Amazon Connect won't ring on the external speakers if you've something plugged into the 3.5mm jack.

USB to audio jack is part of the reason I originally bought the Plantronics C5220, as the inline volume control thing is on USB, and then it has a jack to plug the headset in to, so I also could use the headset with my phone. Then I got a new phone without a headset jack biggrin
