New Outlook issue - office 365 subscription required

Hi,

Could do with some help. Mrs BS has the "new" Outlook functionality enabled on her W11 laptop.
When trying to view a Word attachment within Outlook it says A Microsoft 365 Subscription is required".



Daft thing is that the laptop has Office365 installed and it's an active family subscription.
Tried googling and there's naff all about the issue.

It’s because by default there is a cack “office” app that’s installed that is basically a shop front to sell you O365.

And for whatever reason the file type she is trying to open has that office as the selected app, rather than the actual copy of word.

Check the Default APP is pointing to Word:

It would appear to be more obscure than that. From Explorer all is fine, it appears to be limited to opening attachments from Outlook.
