So I have neither at the moment, but I'd like to have one but not sure what's the best way to go

I'm not going to do anything strenuous activity wise mainly just walking and I will pretty much always have my phone on me but I'd like to be able to do Google pay/wallet or what ever it's called these days

The mobvoi tickwatch pro 5 seems decent but only has android wear 3.5

The galaxy watch 6 in some flavour maybe? Not sure on difference between the STD and classic

Pixel watch don't like it's look and surely the new one will be out fairly soon ?

Any other suggestions?

It really depends on how much you want spend and what’s it primary use, a watch or a tracker? I’ve had a couple over the years, initially a Misfit, easy to read, fairly basic needs charging most weeks. I’m not sure what happened to that but I then picked up a Xiaomi of Amazon for about £30, had more functions and runs off a battery watch.

For something more watch like, Withings have good range, but now your into watch price territory.

I think there’s a certain amount of novelty value in getting a tracker and as you say you just walking so I’d suggest get a cheap one to start with and you can upgrade it some point if you do find your using it. If your not using it you can get a decent watch for much less than the price of a mobvoi or a galaxy.

Finally, what tracker do I use now, none, I got a £150 quartz chrono, I do occasionally want to know how I've walked or cycled I just plot it out on-line using Sports Route planner.

I have a Samsung Watch 5 Pro which I bought in March.
Works very well as a daily watch and a fitness tracker, im not sure the Pro version has any real benefits over a standard model apart from a longer battery life and titanium case but it looks nice.

Fitbit Sense 2 here. My needs for watch and fitness tracker are also fairly basic but it does everything I need it to and the battery life is good (think I charge it maybe once a week, or maybe ten days). I was considering the Pixel Watch but having to charge it every day or two put me off.

My Mi-Band 6 does everything I need, dirt cheap too.

I bought a Galaxy watch 4 a month ago - only really to avoid taking a nice watch on holiday. Couldn't justify the massive price difference to the watch 6, for what seemed to be fairly minimal differences.

Don't really care about the fitness stuff but it did track all the walking / heart rate stuff when walking around New York, and I do switch to it when I go to the gym now. Seems to work fine.
Battery life isn't great but it's settled in to using about 50% in a normal day - I've got no need to measure my sleeping, so that works for me since it means I have no worries and can just charge it over night.

I haven't enabled pay on it - it seems you only load it with a single card, and it forces pin lock when it's removed (so you have to unlock it when you put it back on) - it's just as easy for me to pay by phone.
