I've got Virgin broadband at home. My router takes 2 Ethernet cables from the back of it and they're hardwired into the rear of the house. At the other end of the cable, what do I need to create 2 Ethernet ports so I can plug a TV and Xbox into it and have another WiFi point? Is it just a router but setup differently? I have a couple of virgin pods for a mesh system but the pods don't transfer half the line speed so I was hoping for better with this method.

Can anyone recommend something to fit the bill?

Gigabit network switch is the simplest way to increase the number of ports. For your WiFi I would avoid a combined switch and WiFi repeater and get a decent mesh system instead.

If the virgin boxes have a ethernet connection then add those to a 1gigabit switch in the remote location & you’ll have connectivity for your devices.

If you don’t have a ethernet connection then consider a wireless access point. https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-TL-WA1201-AC1200-...

& the switch.

Alternatively you can often reuse a combined firewall/router/switch/access point device in access point mode & it will save the price of the switch (though at ~£15 not that expensive)
