Just a guess as there is no info to go on. But your WiFi is not good enough to keep the connection, or the Chromebook is sleeping. Really need a lot more info.

Are you using the android app from the Play Store on the Chromebook, or opening UK TV Play in the Chrome browser?

If the app is being used - delete it's entire data store (both app data and app cache) and then delete/remove the app.
Then try the service in the browser.

Also useful to know whether there's a VPN installed and running etc
You should also have just what you deem to be essential browser extensions installed and active. If already viewing in the browser you'd be surprised the issues extensions can cause just by being installed.
A quick way to test for issues from browser extensions is to open UK TV Play in an Incognito Browser window and see how it behaves.

How much free storage space is remaining on the device? This can also impact performance and affect stuff like video playback etc

Is the Chromebook connected to 5.0Ghz wifi?
If so switch off the 5.0Ghz wifi at the router so as the Chromebook can only connect to 2.4Ghz and see if behaviour is any different.

Like i said not great with tech but i will tell you what i can.The computer is an acer chromebook 314 only bought a few weeks ago.Apart from the printer which was installed a few days ago it is as it left the shop so nothing actually downloaded and i don't have this problem with either BBC Iplayer or ITVX plus this problem arose before the printer was installed.Any ideas?Forgot to mention went over to BT full fibre with 500mb download speed back in December.

Right click the Chrome icon and select "Open Incognito Window".

Then try accessing the service.

Report back.

It's probably some other issue, but there's not much we'll be able to assist with here judging by your post.

More info is needed, as already mentioned.

Also, check the model number of that machine. It'll be on a label on the underside. The 314 was released in 2016 and was a budget machine then, so it's quite underpowered. But there were later 314 models with better specs. But there's no way of knowing without the model number.
