Google privacy message with 'Got it' button get fed AI ads.
Discussion
A new Google "Terms & Conditions" is appearing and been rolled out on phones & desktop for chrome users. with two buttons which are 'Settings' or 'Got it' rather than an OK button. https://www.theregister.com/2023/09/06/google_priv...
If you press the 'Got it' button you are signing up for Google to use AI on all your search and Web browsing habits it will then use AI to feed you Ads AI thinks you'll be interested in.
You can turn it off if you follow the Settings button or log in to privacy settings at any time but i can see the vast majority just clicking the 'Got it' button
Actually, after rereading the register.com link above you are automatically 'opted in' for AI ads, unless you go to the 'settings' & disable them explicitly.

API rather than AI ?
A classic bit of dark UI design. Most people will quickly click "Got It" and never think about it again.
The Topics API been coming for a while as 3rd party tracking cookies become less and less relevant. You can always turn off Javascript (that should only break about 99% of modern websites).
Alternatively, more privacy-focused Chromium-based browsers are available.
