Thinking about buying some to add to keys in case of keys being lost.

Are they as good as the reviews for this use ?

SWMBO has just bought some for our suitcases. Never thought of using them on keys. Thinking on I'd never heard of them until this week so I don't actually know what their intended use is!

They do have their uses for sure. I have them on keys and various bags and if anything it just saves me time when I can’t remember where I’ve put them.

We've the Samsung version on all our cases and bags. Dead handy at airports as you can track the progress of your luggage to the baggage belt and it's also good to know it's made it on to the plane in the first place!

We have a key box for our keys and are really good at returning them to that when not is use so we don't need them for keys.

I didn’t realise how cheap they are, plus the long battery life. Interesting !

Thinking of planting one on my mum, any downside? (Losing her marbles). Did they stop that alert warning thing if 2 people can share it?

In all seriousness do they work on dogs? Never lost mine but it’s crossed my mind.

I know people who have them on their dog. I’ve got mine on my keys, although I lose my wallet more often, a card shaped one would be a good idea (if they could do that?!). As previously said, they are very cheap for what they are!

Keys, luggage, children. Only downside is you can’t share them yet though I think this is coming in iOS 17.

I got one for my wife who always seems to be looking for her keys. She initially said it was a bit stupid and she didn't need one, but since it has come in useful quite a few times when she has lost them in the house.

Depends on where you’re going to lose your dog - they work by broadcasting their location to nearby iPhones so if your dog runs off into some woods the location won’t update unless it runs up to some people with iPhones.

And you can make them play a sound once you’re in the room so you can find them

Better still, if nearby and you have an iPhone 12 or later, an arrow points you to where the thing has hidden itself

Keys are a perfect use case for AirTags

It’s worth considering one of these for your car even if you already have a tracker.

My car got nicked recently (thanks to rubbish keyless ignition) but because it had an AirTag in it the police recovered it within an hour of me reporting it.

Interestingly when they found the car they found a powered-up gps / mobile jammer in it, presumably intended to block traditional car trackers. When I arrived to collect the car they told me that AirTags are the only devices they know of which seem to bypass these jammers - presumably because they only need a single, momentary bluetooth signal to an iPhone to put themselves on the map.

We have 4 of them and they are good. One in each of our cars, one in a strap which my little one wears when we're in busy places and one in my laptop bag. We use them in our suitcases when going on holiday. They're great but not perfect. Sometimes the tracking information is a couple of hours old rather than live if they can't find a Bluetooth device nearby. Most of the time they're fine though.

I like that they alert other people's phones to help avoid stalking. My other half gets notifications on her phone to say she could be being tracked as one of the tags assigned to my account is in her car.

I have three in total.
One is a floater which is usually the luggage one but presently is in one car so I know where it is (reason coming soon).

The other two are on my car keys because my teenager just passed his test and has a tendancy to leave his crap everywhere. His crap being my car keys that I will want to ensure don't get lost.

He has a preference for one car at the moment so the luggage tag is in that car in case he turns off the location option built into the car.... biggrin

They are, as others have said, good for keys. I mislay my keys about once a year and the tags are perfect for that.

Not directly of help to the OP - sorry!

A Google shows that Samsung tags are no longer available - do you know if they're not making them anymore, or if they're being updated?

I'm a Samsung user and there are alternatives out there - Tile I presume are the next best for a non iPhone user?
