I have a DS215j with 2 drives configured as RAID.
It started beeping last night and the status indicators suggest that one drive has failed.

Maybe unwisely I pressed the reset button - now I can't sign in to the admin page. I've tried my admin id & password and also (as suggested in the documentation) just admin with no password.

Anyone any tips? Synology support appears to be pretty useless.

download Synology Assistant.

be careful, it may do something that destroys the data, it should allow you to set the admin password but in that process it mgiht install DSM again and nuke your data.

why did you press reset? How long for?

Thanks, I'll give that a try.
I was looking for a quick fix, it was only afterwards that I realised that it would reset the password.

raid-1.
Hopefully it's as simple as replacing the dead drive and letting it resynchronise

The reason I asked about the duration of the press....
Hopefully, you reset network and password...........

Find the thing on the network, try admin and <no password> as your login.

And replace the dodgy drive. You may not know which is the dodgy drive at this point....

I held reset for about 10 secs.
When I try admin + no password it tells me that the account or password is invalid. I've finally managed to get through to Synology and have raised a support ticket - until I get my account reinstated there's not much I can do. Fingers crossed...
The status LEDs show disk 2 as failing

You may want to wait on Syno support but it seems you might not be effed just yet. I hope....!

I'll put it down to a combination of impatience and RTFM.
Thanks for the help.
