Hi folks,

Ive been on Vodafone for several years at £20 a month for standard Fibre broadband. It’s gone up to £30… would switch but BT have been talking about FTTP here for most of this year.

Build date was end June, then Sept, and now they’ve said end of Jan.

Any recommendations for decent providers that I could start a reasonable (standard) contract now and then port over when BT get done?

Rural-ish so Virgin etc not an option!

Why not just go to BT and then upgrade from FTTC to FTTP when it is available? They usually allow you to do that.

Well, about 10 years ago BT asked people in my area to register for interest in fibre.

At various times over the intervening years I've been offered 'ultra-fast fibre' packages via email and post from BT/TalkTalk/etc. only for the availability checker to show a max offering of 32-36mbps.

It finally became available 2 months ago.

If BT cannot provide FTTP then I'd imagine no one can as it will all be via Openreach anyway.

Probably best staying as you are of move to BT and then upgrading with BT once it's available, they'll probably have first dibs on it I'd imagine.

Not always, we've got about 3 different FTTP providers round here now, they have all dug up the road separately to trunk in the fibre.

You'd know if that had happened!

Unless they use cityfiber, youfiber, gigaclear or any of the other service providers…

Thanks all. Fibre will be provided by Openreach. May go with BT or Plusnet.
