I’ve been with Plusnet for a couple of years now and found them pretty good (EE network) - only flies in the ointment are not supporting Wi-Fi calling, and not allowing number forwarding to I can’t use a different answerphone. £9.99pcm for 20GB of data on a 1 month rolling contract.

However, I have discovered that they are shutting down in the next few months. My wife has received an email from Plusnet informing her, and offering her a similar deal on EE.

I’ve not received anything. I’m likely to end up with EE (coverage works for me) and it would be nice to get WiFi calling and number forwarding again.

However, I’ve had no such email and a quick check on their website shows £23pcm for similar (1 month rolling contract).

Has anybody else had this? I am hoping to get a similar email at some stage. I’m sure I will have to pay more than £10 (it was cheap as I also have BB with Plusnet), but I don’t fancy paying more than double…

Or, alternatively, are there any other networks that sponge off EE and provide Wi-Fi calling and number forwarding…?

Don't go with EE and the world is your oyster. Not sure why, but they are horrifically expensive. Take a look on USwitch and you'll see unlimited minutes, texts and 6Gb of data with O2 for £7 a month on a sim only contract for example.

I went with Lyca mobile https://www.lycamobile.co.uk/ as they use EE network which is the only one that works here at home. Easy and cheap.

Thanks for answers so far - to answer my own question I can see that on the Plusnet website there is a link to follow to give existing customers better deals - £12 on a rolling contract for 20GB which seems good.

However, I do occasionally need roaming (free on Plusnet) which is £2.xx a day on EE or £15pcm. Bargain…

Weird, not sure I am using it in the right way but everything seems really expensive there - Vodafone 20GB 1 month rolling is £34!

EE doesn’t seem to be on there at all…

ID Mobile is £10/month for 60GB [1] on a 30 day rolling contract. Network is Three rather than EE. Has WiFi calling but you'd need to investigate the number forwarding. Roaming is included for up to 30GB of data.

Take a look at Smart(Three), who are similarly priced to what you are current paying.

They have a list of phones that they support WiFi calling for and have free roaming abroad upto 12GB data

Not sure what options you're taking. Here are O2 & Vodafone sim only offerings sorted by price. 25G Vodafone is £8.

I didn't look at the 1 month tariffs for those prices, the one I looked at was O2 12 month sim only and sorted on price. If that £34 is the one month contract price, then it's obviously worth taking the 12 month lock-in as it'll only take a few months before you're ahead on price anyway. After 12 months they roll onto monthly too, I've not touched mine for years as there's nothing cheaper out there.

Signal considerations are less important these days with WiFi calling. Stuff like the O2 free roaming may be a more valuable consideration.
