Hi, we're in a bungalow, does anybody have a robovac that will clean every room? The floors are all on the same level with no obstructions between rooms. Will it do the lot without moving it or does it need to be moved around? Will it start up from where it reached when it's full, needs emptied and then ready to go? Thanks in anticipation.
There are two basic types - those that bounce around randomly and those that use LIDAR to map out the space. You need the latter for multiple rooms, they are much better generally but cost more.
Not sure about them stopping to be emptied, but some mapping ones will return to the charging dock if they run out of juice midway through and then resume where they left off.
In addition to the mapping feature, look for high battery capacity and strong suction.
Edit to answer the question Yes it will go from room to room by itself, and you can even ask it to clean specific rooms, avoid certain areas etc.

I have the roomba j9 with dustbin. Its pricey but does our whole flat in about 2hrs (charges once or twice).
After a few runs it maps out the whole place. And will 'discover' new areas if you move furniture.
It is the best money I think I've ever spent...
To add if you are thinking about robot hoovers check out this channel to point you in the right direction as best hoover may have changed

Don't buy a New Neato, they've gone bust... Vorwerk closed them down so who knows how long the servers will stay up for...
I have 2 older dumb Neato's though and they are handy! Also have all 3 of the robot Vorwerks, and the modern 2 both have wifi issues, and it seems they all do it eventually! The really old VR100/Neato XV works perfectly, it's just a bit rubbish bless it
Currently have an american Roomba 980 and it's fantastic! If I had the money I'd give one of the self emptying ones a shot but I Could buy myself a very nice car for that cost, and as much as I like my Xsara estate, it wouldn't be a hard choice 😂

I have been there when I had an earlier model roomba - sad times. The latest robots with cameras are supposed to be able to avoid poop
We have the slimline Eufy from Amazon. It fits under ALL our furniture which is important and no LIDAR hoover will ever do. That's Where all the dust bunnies live....
Bump navigation is amazingly good. Some clever coding going on ( navigates with bumpers and ultra sonic). It follows walls in a perfectly straight line when in edge mode, and even more surprisingly it ends up in the two other rooms on the same floor with no mapping or lidar, and one of them is down a hallway.
Obvz mapping would be more efficient.
Only real downside is we have to empty her "bottom" after an hour or so, or less. Gets full quickly. But it feels better than spending nnorth of £600 for a self emptying one. She cost under £200 and is called Juanita.

So just to be clear there is no lidar or mapping? Bump navigation is amazingly good. Some clever coding going on ( navigates with bumpers and ultra sonic). How often did you hoover under the sofa pre robovac?

Thing is with under furniture, is the dust bunnies make their way into the room eventually so you are cleaning "at source". Furniture she goes under includes Dresser, antique cabinet, huge L sofa (the space under than represents a big % of the room), bed (of course) chest at end of bed.
1st run we had to empter here a LOT :-)
I'm constantly amazed how well bump nav works. We actually have to shut the lounge and bedroom doors to stop her wandering off when we want her to focus on one room (realised now its 4 rooms she does)
