I've got an 80GB iPod Classic I'm using in the car.
Since iTunes was replaced by Apple Music, you can no longer connect the iPod to a computer to automatically sync, but you can plug it in and drag music files onto it using Finder on a Mac. This has worked fine, but I'd like to create some playlists rather than just have random songs playing.

Is there a way to create compatible playlist files without iTunes?

I've not used it for a while but I normally use copytrans to manage the iPod classic I keep permanently connected in my car

https://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager/

I still use the iPod but haven't bothered updating the music on it recently now streaming is so easy

Also no Mac version frown

Streaming is easy, but 4G coverage can be patchy meaning lots of drop-outs, plus there is a lot of music i have ripped that just isn't available on streaming sites.

After going back to check you're quite right. I use VMware and a Windows XP VM to run both copytrans and the software for my old Phillips Pronto remotes. I also have an Intel iMac so have W10 dual booting using bootcamp.

Try this for the Mac....

Not free but very low cost. It does the lot with no fuss at all.
