Hi, whole family needs new passport and being in London the photo studio s charge £12 to £15 each for photos (don't have kiosk nearby). Any suggestions for an android app that can take photos and importantly allows for background color change? I'm the past I remember partying for couple of apps but when I changed phone they couldn't be transferred over so wanted to get suggestions please.

Thanks

Does it have to be an app? Plenty of free online web resources to do it. Anyone in the family with a recent Samsung galaxy(?) as they have a built in photo editor that will remove backgrounds.

Just stand in front of a plain wall and take a selfie. That's what the passport website tells you to do, and it works fine.

Yep - online you upload photos and it tells you if they are ok (and then you get an email rejecting the photo if, like me, you stood in front of a textured wall - resubmitting was immediate and approved the next day.)

Stand in front of a PLAIN wall, chin up, no shadows (so behind, not under a light) and that works fine for them. If you digitally edit the background (with an app) they are likely to reject your photo - they are very specific about not editing the photo in any way.

I did this for my passport renewal photo albeit on iOS as I found it basically impossible to take a picture without any shadow or it being too dark

The online portal accepted it fine and my passport was approved shortly afterwards.

Done 3 of them recently, find a plain light coloured wall, stand in front of it and make sure there is no shadow. upload it.

my son sat in a photo booth and then took a selfie with his phone - perfect picture with perfect lighting.
