Galaxy Fold 5 - Anyone getting one?
Discussion
I've pre-ordered direct from Samsung and expecting delivery on Friday. Never had a folding phone of this type before but I think they've finally nailed it design-wise and I expect this model to open the floodgates so-to-speak. I also think I'm their target demographic not having owned one until I think it's actually been perfected/refined.
Got a great trade-in price from Samsung for my S21 too, more than I'd expect from selling it privately and almost £100 more than CEX are buying them for.

I keep being tempted but until they can sort the crease im not prepared to sign up. Shame really as I know it would be so handy for media consumption on flights / travelling etc.
O2 have been offering some good deals on the Fold and Flip5 (both direct and via MobilePhonesDirect) on them too.

Until they improve the camera to that of my S23 Ultra then no. Ideally, the Fold could replace both my phone and tablet but not with that camera setup.
This is also me. I've an S21 Ultra and was hoping the camera on the Fold 5 was as least the same spec (as a 2.5 year old phone) and it's not. Gadgetmac said:
Is the crease really that big of a problem? From the videos I've watched it only seems apparent when the phone is tilted a certain way and into a light source...is it there all of the time, even in (say) a darkened room?
I've got a fold 4 and never notice it. One of those things that you immediately get used to. Overall its an excellent phone, not sure I will upgrade to the 5, maybe wait for the 6.

Unless you're a professional photographer who uses your phone snaps to blow-up and print images for a living I honestly don't know how you can visually tell the difference.
You are probably correct, but for me it's the zoom. Even after two and a half years, the 100x zoom (I know it's not optical zoom) still amazes me. It's like having a telescope in your pocket, I often use it to look at things without actually taking a photo.snuffy said:

Two months ago, I upgraded from an S10 (broken screen, so repair made no economical sense) to an S23 (normal size, no Ultra). The S23 is now up for sale but I'm seriously considering keeping it and selling the Fold 5 on...
Not because it's not a cool phone, it is and it definitely reached the level of maturity I was waiting for, for foldable phones.
It's just that the S23 does everything I need really well, and I'm not sure if I'd take advantage of the Fold's screen size.

I've got a fold 3 and agree the camera is average at best. I don't blow up and print any pictures but even on screen in comparison to my wife's iPhone it's really poor.
The inner screen is fantastic for media consumption.. and the crease is really only noticable in bright lights. As said above, it's one of those things you become quickly used to

I fully agree. The zoom is the game changer. When photographing wildlife it makes all the difference.
The x10 zoom on my old S21U is OK, I like smart phone cameras, but it really struggled to get decent wildlife/bird shots of any kind. The focus accuracy was also an issue. The x3 lens on the Fold 4(same as the Fold 5) is pretty much on-par with my old S21U, its a very capable lens. The wide angle is also pretty good in day light. Main sensory is what you expect from a 2020+ smartphone - very good.gangzoom said:
