Hi, I have a domain registered with 123-reg. I don’t have a mailbox with them but I can set up email forwards using my domain and have these forwarded to my outlook email address which is my main address. Ito set one up each time I sign up to something so LinkedIn would be LinkedIn@mydomain.co.uk. This way I can minimise impact for data breaches and resulting spam.

I am trying to understand where these emails are stored ie where I have to be concerned in relation to security.

As they are just forwards do 123-reg store the emails anywhere or is it just outlook.

Sorry I have tried to explain as best I can.

Where they are stored or where they could be stored?

If it's just dumb email forwarding I'd only expect them to persist on Outlook.com infrastructure or wherever they finally end up as anything else should be a temporary "processing" hop.

If it's where they could be stored if people chose to do it basically anywhere in the chain from source to destination.

123 reg will have the mail logs but actual message will be stored in Outlook.

Auto email forwarding is pretty poor though, all it takes is for a sender to have a DMARC reject policy and you'll likely never see it.
