I currently have an elderly desktop which still runs Win7 (I know, I know). It is so crap Win10 won’t lower itself to installing on it.

So, new PC time, which is relatively simple to do.

However, once I get my new Win10/11 PC can I just remove the drive from the existing PC, add it to the new one, and be able to access all the docs / pics saved on it? Or will having a different OS on the 2nd drive be a problem?

They are all / can be backed up to an external drive as well on a regular basis.

So, add old drive to new PC, or just copy everything I want off and then add it to the new one?

Having typed it out I think the copy off / add back option is probably easier…

If you're backing them up already, I'd try recovering from the backup onto the new PC. If nothing else, you'll confirm that your backup process works properly.
