Latest rumours on iPhone 15.

https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/iphone-15/

I have a 14 Pro so doubt I’ll be tempted to change this year. Thoughts?

I'm using a 12 mini at the moment, so it's getting towards upgrade time.

I've got two things that I'm looking for:

1. a bigger display than I have right now. The 12 mini is too small a screen for Kindle on long train journeys, and my eyes don't like it any more. That's down to my eyesight as I get older, but a bigger screen is needed.

2. Best camera I can get! My phone has replaced the need for a 'walk around' camera completely, so this is a key feature. If the rumoured periscope zoom appears in the 15 Pro Max / 15 Ultra, that's what I'll get. If it doesn't, I might wait until 14 Pro Maxes appear on the refurb store, or buy a regular 15 Pro.

I think I'll decide on the upgrade route when the full feature sets and details are announced.

I tend to keep my phones for 3 - 4 years at least. My 12 mini was actually my work phone, and I got to keep it when i changed jobs, so it replaced the last phone I bought, which was an XS. Before the XS, I had a 6+, so keeping them a while is my usual pattern.

This year? I wouldn't change for the next 3-4 if I had one of those.

I just upgraded my iphone SE to an iphone 11 pro max (£350 on ebay)

That will do for another 4yrs or so. At which point I may get an iphone 15 pro max (for £350).

rinse/repeat.

I’m on a 12 Pro at the moment. Nothing wrong with it other than the lightning port is filled with dust and won’t charge reliably. I do watch a lot of YouTube on my phone now though so I’ve been considering a Max. If the 15 has USB-C I might upgrade.

I had a 12 mini. I loved the size and that if fitted easily into my pockets. The big downside for me was the very limited battery life.

The 14 pro is a big upgrade.

I will probably stick with my usual 4 year replacement cycle. Currently have a 12 Pro Max and will stick with it and get a new battery installed (its down to 85%) unless there is something truly revolutionary in the new 15 Pro Max.

My brother has the 14 Pro Max and the only thing I really wanted from it was the always on screen which I can live without.

It would be nice if they made the Pro Max lighter, maybe make the chassis from aluminium or titanium? I know it's the big daddy but compared to my wife's aluminium 13 it feels significantly heavier in the hand and jacket pocket. I need the extra battery capacity for work and the bigger screen is also nice so I will look at the Plus when the time comes.

I have a couple of lightning accessories I use a lot so the USB C charger thing is actually a negative for me.

Get a wooden cocktail stick in there. It shouldn't damage the electrics and is sharp enough to get the fluff out. I was suffering the same issue.

A switch from lightening to usb-c would be a welcome change, seeing as my MacBook charges via usb-c.

I'm on the upgrade plan, so I'll probably just saunter in on launch day and get a new pro max in the 'trendy colour' like I usually do every year.

I'll probably take an iPhone 15 Pro Max this time around if the camera zoom is good enough and USB C appears without some weird apple limitations.

Otherwise will stay with my 13 Pro.

Using a 13 Pro and absolutely love it...can't see any reason to upgrade whatsoever. Have the same feeling with the 13 Pro that I did with the XR - just deos what it says on the tin and you really don't need anymore! The only reason I got rid of my XR was the battery went.

I have a 14 Pro but will likely upgrade for the camera enhancements. This is what generally drives my upgrades.

I might upgrade from an XR (nothing really wrong with it)

I have a 12 I got at launch and tbh other than a better camera I doubt the 15 will offer something worthwhile over it.

I do need to get a new battery for mine though seems to have slid off a cliff recently.

Usually try and keep my iphones until iOS support is stopped (or until the phone is just a joke to use - my 6S I had before my 12 needed 3 full charges a day just to get through)

Reckon with a new battery I should get another good couple of years out of it.

How come Apple get away with releasing what is effectively the same phone for the last 4 years and people go crazy for it and are prepared to pay £1000?

As someone who buys android phones for a third of the cost that are much better phones I just don't get it.

Because there is a market for it.

They aren't effectively the same and you clearly aren't the target market. The same argument could be had for Samsung, Google, et al too.

Anyway, back O/T

I have a 13PM and probably going to got for the 15PM - in December/January time - probably in a colour rather than the gold I have currently. Lots of rumours flying about titanium chassis which would be nice but not necessary.

I've got the 11 Pro Max so probably be looking to upgrade this time.
I've been running a Beta of iOS 17 on both phone and watch and there is at least one nice little feature that wont work with the 11 Pro Max because it doesn't utilise the always on display.

Just made the exact same change last week - £44/m with 100gb. As you say it's a big upgrade over the 12 mini.

Also got an 'as new' 12 at £25/m with 80gb this week for my daughter. Which, after you deduct the £10/m I was paying for a Talkmobile sim only, means it's only £15/m (am I doing this man maths right???)
