I'll explain my exact requirements extensive googling has brought up a lot of products that do similar things to what I want but nothing that does exactly what I want.

1. I am having trouble sleeping and would like to leave my phone in a different room at night as its too easy to just pick it up if I am having trouble nodding off (which of course exaccerbates the problem).

2. I have an elderly relative that lives alone, she may need to contact me in the middle of the night and if she does I would like to be alerted that my phone is ringing but otherwise I don't want any alerts.

Is there an alarm clock or similar device that could help me with this situation?

Bluetooth speaker (kept charged via a USB or AC adapter) near your bed that is connected to the phone in the other room.

Then set do not disturb on the phone for everything other than the contacts you wish to be disturbed by?

I use an Amazon Echo Show instead of a bedside clock and I’m fairly sure that you can set this up to alert if your phone rings but couldn’t you just put your phone on the other side of the room?

Thanks guys for the quick replies, I have set my phone with the do not disturb except for a few numbers, I will try the Bluetooth speaker and see if that works. I could of course leave the phone on the other side of the room but the temptation would be to just pop up and grab it if I can't sleep. It's a bad habit I am trying to break and I just think a wall between me and it, is a good idea.

Buy a dumbphone and keep it in the bedroom, set call forwarding on your main phone and switch it off, etc.

Leave your phone in your bedroom, but well out of reach so that you’re not tempted to pick it up

Do you have a landline you could attach a phone to?

Leave your phone by your bed and practice leaving it alone. You've nicely trained yourself to pick it up so you can retrain yourself.

Just turn the ring volume up and put the phone far enough away you can't easily reach it. But really the best way would be to solve the sleeping issue. Not sure how you do that but there has been stuff on here before about sleeping issues.

I put my phone in the next room and there is no way I could sleep through it ringing. I reckon you are having trouble rationalising not having it by the bed side.

No way would I take my phone into my bedroom other than on silent.

I did the same. Do not disturb with just wife, daughter and son able to bash through it.

It worked perfectly when my wife phoned me at work to tell me our son had broken his ankle two months ago.

I use a baby monitor as a doorbell extension. I sure that would work with your scenario.

This. I have Garmin watch synced with my phone that vibrates when the phone rings. Just mute the phone in the evening with the exception of the number of the elderly relative and you're sorted.

What about a self contained Bluetooth hands free solution like this on the bedside table?

Would alert you to the ringing but also allow you to answer the call without having to retrieve the phone.
