iPhone headphone jack adaptor
Discussion
After buying a few official iPhone headphone jack adapters I’m finally fed up of them getting damaged and not working properly. Anyone got a good recommendation for a good robust jack? I know someone will say just go for Bluetooth or air buds but I only use my headphone when out riding my mountain bike so has to work with wearing a helmet. Also don’t want to drop one while riding and also like to take an ear piece out if on the road for safety.

I run with shokz aeropex headphones but they won’t fit properly next to (under the rim of) my cycling helmet. eta Amazon Prime -30% for headphones https://www.amazon.co.uk/Conduction-Headphones-Blu...
They’ve brought out some expensive 'over ear' clip ones but I’d be surprised if they'd stay put mountain biking! For road cycling i sometimes use just one (LH) Blutooth ear pod. For Mountain biking I don't use anything.

Get a skull cap to put between your head and helmet, it then keeps your earbuds in your ear and as a bonus keeps your ears warm!

I run hot at the best of times and mtb helmets tend to have less ventilation/more protection design than road helmets so it’s a no from meE.g. https://www.wiggle.com/p/dhb-windslam-cycling-skul...

They won’t fit me very well when wearing mtb helmet (has a very low back compared to road helmets) and prescription riding glasses. i’m not going to change my helmet to a different design to fit the headphone either as (bell dh super) it’s fits my head the best and has a number of features that I require AirPods Pro on transparency mode sounds ideal?
It amplifies external noise to a point of it feels like you aren’t actually wearing anything and the music etc is just kind of weirdly somehow there in your ears.
A strange sensation at first but perfect for being aware of your surroundings - that’s the entire design of it.
Fit very snug too (comes with 4 different tips to try) I can’t imagine mine ever falling out.

Get an old school mp3 player or ipod nano with a headphone socket and load it up with tunes
I tried my wife's bone conduction headphones and they were fine for half hour or so but then they started to make the arm of my specs dig into my head and they got uncomfortable so I'm with you on that. It's a shame as otherwise they work really well.

I have a UGreen one and their stuff has always worked well for me:

The helmet comes apart so you have an open face helmet with the ability to attach the full face/chin guard when needed (eg for the downs). Will only be taking this out with me only on very few rides and won’t be riding listening to music if it’s that extreme trailswyson said:
Definitely go Bluetooth for your use case. I remember there used to be a few sports buds that had a band that went round your neck. Bose do Bluetooth speaker shades.
Need subscription glasses and tend to ride in clear lenses most of the time (just to stop dust/mud/branches/watery eyes from air movements getting in to my eyes)Not Apple, but I ride all the time with my Google Pixel buds in, never once fell out, would imagine the Apple version is the same.
Previous to these I had a few very cheap Bluetooth headsets and didn't get on with them, mainly because the battery was pants, but never looked back now.
I dug out my old Sony PSP the other week and was horrified that if I wanted to use it in public I'd have to use wired headphones.

YES, it's not just me! I have lost count of the number of official Apple adapters I've been through!! For no reason at all they just stop working/keep pausing/activating Siri etc?! Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
