Bear with me and excuse any daft questions because I only have limited knowledge of Pokemon Go. smile

For some time, my son has been using my phone to play Pokemon Go, with me 'supervising'.

He is now old enough to have a phone of his own.

The Pokemon account has been linked to my Google account. It isn't linked to anything else, such as a Facebook account.

I know that individual Pokemon can be transferred/swapped just once, but can I simply transfer the account over to him since they are his Pokemon?
And if he wants me to assist him (I can play the game but nowhere near as well as he can, nobody much does 'raids' in our area so he needs a buddy), can I start a new account in my name, on the same phone he has been using?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Not 100% sure what you’re asking?

Do you mean swap the email account linked to the Pokémon Go acct, so RVBjr@google, instead of RVBsr@google?

Surely somewhere in the app you can change the email its registered to, and then he just needs to login on the other phone.

Link the account to a Facebook account, unlink your Google account, link new Google account, unlink Facebook. You'll be able to start a new account of your own afterwards.

This has nothing to do with trading pokemon BTW, this is only for logging into accounts. Once the email is switched over everything in the account itself will stay the same.

Yes.
But then I create a new account me and the new account is on my phone linked to my gmail (the same phone and email that his account had been on/linked to).

Thanks.
That's what I thought but I didn't want to create a problem or trigger the game creators into blocking us or thinking we're trying to cheat.

Any suggestions for a relatively low cost smartphone (unlocked) which would be suitable for him to play Pokemon Go without compromising things?

As it's his first phone, I don't expect it to last long before it is abused/broken/stolen/lost etc so I'm not wanting to spend any more than I can get away with.

Maybe a decent phone from yesteryear that'll still run PGo?

A quick Google suggests the following:

Android 7 or above.
Preferred resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (not optimized for tablet)
Strong internet connection (Wi-Fi, 3G, or 4G)
GPS and Location Services.
Rooted devices are not supported.

Pixel 7a or even a 6a?

Both will run that easily.
