More ram/memory 2017 Imac
Discussion
My Imac is coming up to six years old and every so often I get a message about running low on physical memory and RAM. I have installed CleanMy Mac which seems to have cleaned things up - for a while. What are my options for upgrading the machine ? SSD?RAM?Memory? Can I link an older Imac Mini that I have been given from work? Is there any external way to update?
I'm not very technical and don't game or use the computer for anything too strenuous.
Thanks

Unlike the Mac Mini, upgrading the RAM in an iMac of that age should be very simple:

Worth doing.
It should have an SSD already. Changing that may be much more involved, though I have only done that job on older models. If you need more storage, you may be fine with an external drive.

How full is your SSD? Is it pure SSD or is it the 'dreaded' Fusion drive?
What did CleanMyMac actually 'clean' to fix your RAM issue? It normally just removes Apps/Documents (and runs some system maintenance tasks) to try and free up disk space.
How much RAM do you currently have?
BTW, I left my 2014 iMac to an Apple Authorised Technician to put a faster/larger SSD in. For my neice's iMac I decided to buy an external USB 3.1 (10Gbps) enclosure for a 2TB m.2 SSD.
