Currently using a Brother all-in-one colour laser printer which is becoming a PITA so I want to replace it.

A complete set of aftermarket toner cartridges can be bought for about £30.

I have been looking at HP laser printers which seem very nice but toner looks expensive!

Any recommendations for an all-in-one colour laser with widely available aftermarket toner carts?

It has to be a laser as one of the things we use it for is waterproof labels. Otherwise I would buy an Epson ink tank printer.

Usage is home office - so 5 or so pages a day plus the occasional big document.

I've bought a brother l8260cdw recently. Colour laser, duplex. Full set of high cap toner under £50 (OEM are laughable expensive).

It's great. It's not multifunction. How often do you scan? Grab a cheap scanner? MF limits your choices and doubles the price. I've assumed you don't fax , unless you work for the NHS :-)

Point taken, but it's one of those cases where when you want to photocopy something you want to do it right now and with minimal fuss, rather than faffing about with separate scanners and printers.

Fair enough. I run two businesses and have never needed to photocopy anything - but then, I'm on my own with one part time worker, and some casuals.
If I need more than one of somthing I generally print it. The odd doc I have to sign I just take a phone pic.

Keeps the printer smaller too - but totally understand we all have different needs.

It what way is it becoming a PITA?

You'll struggle to do much better than another Brother MF printer - several posters have them & no-one has reported much trouble with them. Personally I wouldn't touch HP with a very long bargepole:

Thanks all.

Our current Brother printer intermittently produces poor quality prints, and regularly wants the corona wires cleaned (they often have to be done multiple times before the printer will work). The printer doesn’t get used a lot, but when we want it to work we want it to work ….

I will try a fresh set of toner cartridges, if that doesn’t work then the answer might be another Brother printer.

Hard to beat the Brother DCP/MFC range.

The Brother DCP-L3550CDW is just over £300 inc VAT and has Print/Copy/Scan with ADF and Duplex.

The printer is a few years old but hasn’t seen a huge amount of use. I think the next step will be to fit new toner cartridges and see what happens.
