McAfee LiveSafe renewal

Hi I have had mcafee on my laptop for a number of years.

I am sure it was something like £60 per annum but this years renewal is £110.00.

I have windows security so do I really need to spend another £110 with mcafee ?

never get any mcafee alerts...

Windows Defender is all you need. McAfee is awful, please don't waste any more of your money with them.

Mcafee is awful, but almost any of the big brand AV licences are generally available for much less money on Amazon rather than buying direct.

Modern Windows 10/11 is quite good at being self protected. Unless you open an email from a scammer and open the attachment (eg, an email pretending to be from UPS with an attachment regarding a parcel, even though you have no such parcel expected) or deliberately vist some untrustworthy bongo sites, you will likely never have anything untoward happen.

I'd ditch McAfee and just exercise common sense.

Not needed. You'll probably see a performance improvement if you manage to uninstall it. Can you check the logfiles and see what it's actually detected? I'd guess nothing serious.
