Facebook ads question
Discussion
Yesterday, while I was at the office, my wife was searching online for a saxophone for our son on her Chromebook. When I came home from work I opened Facebook on my iPhone and the 1st ad that popped up was for one of the saxophone shops that she had been looking at. My wife has never had a Facebook account.
So, how does Facebook on my iPhone know that some hours earlier my wife had been looking for saxophones on her Chromebook? I never use the Chromebook myself and have never logged into Facebook on it. What’s the transmission method for that little nugget if information to make its way to my Facebook account?
I’m genuinely mystified so any light that can be shed would be appreciated. Thanks!

And they know you're married. And in each others' contact lists on your phones. And your phones are in regular close proximity. And you message each other on WhatsApp... And....and...
The ways they track, join the dots and work continually try to monetise you are insane.

One time my friend emailed me a picture of his new Mitsubishi Evo to my old gmail account (he’s old school and doesn’t have what’s app).
Guess what adverts I soon start seeing? That’s right, anything to do with mitsubishis.
Gmail got slammed years ago for scanning peoples emails (and their images) to target them with ads, but they still do it.
