have an old Canon Pixma printer, Windows 10 as is usual with anything more than a few years old will not recognise the printer I have, there are no available drivers for it from Canon.

have tried to do the One Note thing via windows but that is utterly confusing as it keeps asking me to save stuff and nothing prints. Can anyone offer a simple solution? Windows has offered me sod all via trouble shooting etc, it just says it does not exist.

or perhaps can anyone offer some help via this One Note thing? As it is about as confusing as software has ever been in my view, the file is a PDF, simple as yet I just cannot print it out., I will not buy a printer as I rarely use it, so I might aswell throw this thing away as it is just a lump of useless plastic at the moment.

I had a bit of a struggle with my old Pixma when I got a different laptop.

I think I cured it by physically attaching the printer with a cable and then Win10 downloaded the driver for it. It worked perfectly after that (wirelessly).

Printer is directly plugged, but it is not recognised anywhere, even via this Windows One Stop ting or whatever it is.

I cannot find a driver, Canon do not provide them which I find pathetic

Do you have an old device that the printer recognises? Send the file to it over wifi/whatever, then print from the old device but ultimately see if you can set it up as a print server.

Does the printer print off a USB stick? Bit of a PITA but might be another workaround until you find a better solution.

Which Pixma, specifically?

It's usually fairly easy to find printer drivers online even if Canon aren't maintaining them any more.

OneNote is amazing software, but shouldn't be anything to do with printing out a PDF on your computer.

Are you being offered "Onenote print to PDF" as a printer? That's not what you want, you should be able to choose your Canon as a printer, from whichever PDF software you are using.

It is a Pixma I1800, not that old really,

And in ONE note it does not find it anywhere, if I press print it tried to find the file that is already there to save again!

I have tried to find the driver, it installed etc, but made no difference.

Have you tried the Windows 7 or 8 driver - one of these may work with Win 10

Managed to sort it eventually

Joys of PC, I think it may have been a USB not seeing it type of deal!
