Extending Wifi with a seperate router
Discussion
Hi All,
Can anyone assist with thsi?
I have fibre to the door BB at home and routers provided by the ISP (Linksis) I have a cabin at the end fo the garden with a wired connection from the router to the cabin. In the cabin i have a Archer C6 router that provides wireless in the cabin. I also have a Brother Printer in the cabin.
Is it possible to set the cabin router up so the printer can be printed to from the house, so rather than a separate connection to the WIFI on the cabin its sees the connection as the same as the house ?
Hope that makes some sence?

Make sure the C6 is in "access point" mode and it's DHCP server is turned off, It should just work. Your linksys router should then allocate IP addresses for wireless clients on the C6.Can anyone assist with thsi?

Check that you can ping the printer and archer when you're connected to the Linksys router.

Many thanks, turning of the DCHPO seemed to have fixed it Check that you can ping the printer and archer when you're connected to the Linksys router.

Can I ask a further question about this please?
Situation router in house (Fibre) lets call that 'The House'
Hard wired to cabin (physical cable)
In Cabin -TEND AC1200 router in router mode
AC1200 has own network name and password lets call that 'Cabin'
I tried the above - but chickened out when turning to access point mentioned a weak wifi signal.
I'd like to preserve the hard wired cable connection which is working well but achieve what the OP has.
When I try to control the HomePod or printer from 'house' it declines saying that the HomePod is on a different network
Similarly printing from the house doesn't work - it requires me to join the cabin network
Thanks in advance

Presuming the homepod and printer are in the cabin, you could try turning DHCP off on the AC1200,, and connecting everything wired in the cabin to the LAN ports on the AC1200, including the AC1200's wired link up to the house. You may want to consider changing the cabin wireless network name to match the house.
You need to stop the AC1200 allocating addresses from a different address "range" to devices on the cabin WiFi, and get those addresses assigned by the DHCP server in the house to resolve the "different network" issue.
Before you start fiddling with the AC1200, make sure you know how to do a factory reset on it, in case you lose connectivity before you finish configuring it.

Just to clarify, HOUSE router is the one provided my ISP. This has 4 ports one is filled with a wire down to the cabin. That wire is plugged into another router the archer c6 then everything is wifi from that router. The settings I've changed allow me to use the printer in the cabin from the house WiFi or the cabin WiFi. Very useful. Hope that helps Situation router in house (Fibre) lets call that 'The House'
