Talk to me about gaming chairs. Secret Lab, Mavix or something else?

I bought a Noblechairs Hero Black - tbh, I think they're all made in the same place from the same designs and whichever cover put on with the chosen logo. The Hero Black looks identical to the Titan design-wise, I think they're all much of a muchness.. FWIW I've been very pleased with my Hero Black.

I've used a Secretlab for work for about 6 years now and it has been excellent. Still as comfy as the day I got it, nothing has fallen off and everything functions as expected.

My boss had a noble chairs which looked exactly the same but he got rid of his after 12 months, just couldn't get on with it.

Bought a Secret Lab Titan in 2020 as a pandemic/WFH solution. Very comfortable, looks great and happy with it.... however after a year of 40+hrs a week use one of the arms started to bend outwards and wobble for no particular reason (didn't get a knock and I didn't put a lot of weight on it....I weigh 50kg less than it's max weight!)

Eventually the arm rest completely broke off from the frame inside the base after less than 18mths. Support was good and they sent a replacement seat base under warranty FOC (which was a ballache to fit). Don't use it that much now but can't shake the feeling that I need to be extra careful to avoid the same thing happening again, and that the build quality isn't quite as bulletproof as you'd hope

Also it started creaking and squeaking a lot in the same time frame, which I fixed by watching some YT guides on disassembling the strut and cleaning/greasing it. Again, quite a ballache.

So although I like it and they didn't quibble on the warranty, I couldn't wholeheartedly recommend one. 7/10

Also have the hero black.

I'm 87kg and 5'9 and find it a bit too big to be honest. The lumbar support isnt quite enough, and because of its width I cant quite get the arm rests exactly how I want them. But overall its a good chair, pretty comfortable, and the material is great in that it really doesnt get sweaty/sticky

Gaming chairs are difficult because everyone is different, there’s no shop to go and try them out in, and returning big items can be a PITA.

It is true a lot of them come from the same factory just with a different covering and options for arms and legs etc.

I don’t have a hat in the ring and can’t really help OP. It’s just that there’s only so much others peoples experience can help.

Had a secret lab Titan since 2020.

Took a month or two to break in but since then has been incredibly comfy
Only the handrest on mine the leather has cracked but it’s quite insignificant and doesn’t affect the overall comfort of the chair. I’d 100% buy again

I'm also a member of the 2020 Secret Lab Titan "crew", it's going on for 3 years old now and I struggle to fault it. I got the Cookies and Cream Softweave model and it's been dead easy to keep clean, just give it the odd brush and it soon looks good as new again.

Everything is still attached and it's still very comfortable, so would definitely recommend.

Thought I would bump one of the many chair threads rather than start a new one.

Has anyone any experience of GTPlayer chairs? They have a generic sports seat gaming chair look but are a fraction of the price of Noble/SL chairs, too good to be true?

Look identical to DXRacer which means no support and no padding. You’ll hate it within 2 hours

I ended up with a gt omega as they had a sale on when was looking, wanted lumbar cushion which they have. Been fine, looks very similar to the gt player, plenty of padding where you need it though, only problem is easy to sit back and doze off in dull meetings

Another Secret Lab 2020 Titan owner here (albeit the Batman one) and I use it 40hrs+ a week, and again, much like another post, apart from the ends of the arms starting split a bit it is as the day I got it and still very comfortable.

I am also a bigger chap, and usually find the gas lift goes on most chairs quite quickly - this one has been rock solid since I got it.

I started on the KP flavour kravers, loving the flame grilled steak peanuts. Definitely my fav now. I think the salted variety has been pushed into 4th spot.

1) Flame grilled steak flavour kravers.
2) Dry roasted.
3) Plain roasted.
4) Salted.

Back on topic, what’s the benefit of a gaming chair over an ergonomic office jobbie like Herman Miller / Steelcase / RH / Hag?

Secretlab stuff is well made, much more 'hefty' and bulky than something like an Aeron though. I bought my son an Omega in 2020 and he uses it constantly. Still solid and the PU and alcantara stuff is all wearing incredibly well.

I have Aerons in my home office and at work and couldn't be doing with a Secretlab though, far too big and looks for too 'gamer' for me, comfortable and well-built as they are.

Other than that, a Secretlab feels like it is built to last a long time, but a Herman Miller feels like it will last forever.
