I’ve just upgraded my phone and mislaid my old one - it’s currently switched on and although there is no SIM card in it it will be connected to the Wi-Fi where I’ve likely left it (150 miles away banghead )

Question - given that it has GPS and is currently connected to Wi-Fi, is there any way I can trace it using Google location services or something? Obviously installing a client like Airdroid is out of the question, but I can still see the phone if I look it up on Google Location history and “Devices on this account” but it’s not showing me where it is.

Time is of the essence as obviously the battery won’t last forever. I just need to know where the damn thing is before I potentially make a 300 miles round trip before discovering it’s down the back seat of my car… eek

Will that work if it's not setup/enabled/activated on the phone?

Android find my device doesn't need a client it's built in. It's just a question of if you have it enabled.
It is one of those semi turned on by default things where you have to accept something somewhere that it tries to steer you towards accepting for it to default to being on.
