Hopefully someone can help me with this as it's very perplexing.

A few weeks ago my VIrgin Media email account was hacked. I have reset the password and appears all sorted.

However, my Ebay account has had the password changed and also the contact telephone number. There has been no fraudulent activity and I have confirmed this by phoning Ebay.

However, when I called Ebay, they sent me a password reset email and it didn't reach me (sent twice to me), and all my Ebay emails have disappeared from my Inbox.

Anyone have any ideas as to how I can sort this?

Did you use the same email and password for your virgin and eBay accounts? Sounds like your eBay account has been hacked as well. Did you have a second recovery email set-up?

If ebay can't help then best set-up a new ebay account, use a different email address, make sure you cancel any bank account DDs and reset your PayPal passwords etc.

Ensure you use strong passwords and 2FA.

Had this recently when I suddenly got an email stating the email associated to this account has been changed. Swiftly followed by , the phone number associated with account has been changed.

This renders all forms of recovery useless as any emails go to the hacker, as does the 2 factor authentication to the new phone number and not yours.

No clue how they did it but you will need to contact eBay urgently saying your account has been compromised. Remove any Paypal link to the account and change every password to prevent further hacking attempts.

Do not click on any links in an email. Always copy and paste the link direct into the browser. I`m sure someone more tech savvy will be along soon with some other helpful advice but good luck

I had this on my burner email account. The hacker had got into my email account and changed the setting to being forwarded onto his own email address so check your settings.

Thanks for the reply. Passwords were different and 2 factor authentication was enabled.

Thanks for the reply.

Without being able to log in to Ebay, how to I de-link the PayPal account. Just tried and I can’t see a way of doing it but I have removed Ebay from pre-approved payments.

Nothing in Spam and I have checked my forwarded email settings at Virgin Media and none are set up.

Ebay is really weak.
If someone can hack your email, they have your ebay account.
They don't seem to use your phone number or anything for effective two-factor checking.

If you can still get into your ebay I suggest removing any attached cards or paypal accounts.
My partner had some odd ebay activity, never got it sorted had to close the account and start again with a new ebay account on a burner gmail account.
