This must be a process that 1000s of small businesses have been through. We have an in-house NAS, with a VPN for home-working, with around 5TB of data, most of which is used by the in-house design team.

The company has moved over to MS 365 Business Basic, which provides 1TB of One Drive storage per user (there are around 50 users) and is using Teams. But our total Sharepoint storage limit is only 1.5 Tb. To add 5 Tb to this would cost £9,600 per year, which seems ridiculous.

So how do we transition between the two?

Ideally, any user could log onto Windows on any PC and just automatically have access to their files, held I presume on Sharepoint, with access controlled by the user's Teams, is that correct?

Any steer would be greatly appreciated!

I thought that O365 E3 with 5+ users gave 5Tb per user of stroage. (I'm not a reseller, so you'd need to check)
Might be worth checking, as that could work for you?

You can purchase more Sharepoint site storage if your subscription plan allowance is not enough.

If your going the whole O365 route then it would be worth looking and m365 business premium or maybe an E3 for those who need it. Both will come with more storage than the basic plan.

Also are you buying direct from Microsoft? If so it may be worth seeing if a partner org can supply you as they may be able to help with pricing.

Other alternative is to commit to x number of licences for a year, you would get a discount rather than pay as you go.. only downside is that if you commit to, for example, 10 licences you can flex up but never go down

Thanks, it does but only on One Drive, it does not extend the Sharepoint storage.

Thanks. Yes, we can but 5 Tb is nearly £10k per year.

Caveat - I'm from a dev background, not infrastructure, but....

Why use SharePoint to store files? I understand it's not designed for that exactly and you may be better off investing in something like Azure Files or even something like Box which offers unlimited storage in some plans. I know Box offers integration into Windows Explorer and so on so it might be a better (cheaper) solution than SharePoint and I'd argue it might be easier to manage too.

I’ve not used / affiliated with this but it popped up when I was checking if those sharepoint prices were really that exorbitant.
