Facebook Chats - missing

Please can someone explain why Chats don’t appear on my Facebook feed?
My wife sees chats on her phone/app/account but I don’t. Groups can’t add me to their chats either.
I have Messenger on the same phone as the Facebook app and can’t see what I’m missing.
