My daughter has a pixel 6a and over the last 6 months or so has recorded a few videos on there.

Because of this, she has filled up 15gb of storage on her Google drive.

I have deleted a few of the videos, but it still shows an error if she tries to send an email - encourages her to increase the storage for a fee.

How can I convince the phone that there is a lot of space on the Google drive now? Is it a case of waiting whilst Gmail catches up?

My one normally sorts itself out the next time I open the google photos app. Perhaps phone off/on. Hopefully that will solve it

There is a bin to empty - worth clearing that out

It could also be WhatsApp or Telegram etc. if there are lots of photos and videos in any chats she has that are also being backed up to GoogleDrive

There are 2 bins.

One for files on Google Drive.

Another for photos and videos in Google Photos.

Both count towards the total storage on the account.

Both bins clear deleted items 30 days after deletion, but you can clear both manually too. Only after permanent deletion (automatic or manual) is the storage freed up on the account.

The link below should hopefully show what's using storage on the account;

I recently increased my storage and could share it, i pay £2.49 a month for 200gb I think it is.

I also have OneDrive with 1tb as I have the family O365 membership which I pay yearly at £55
