Does Waze alert of have any support for width restrictions?

Twice recently ive been directed across bridges once where I had to get the Mrs to guide me through and the other thankfully I had chance to easily get out of it then find another way. But I'd like to be able to avoid narrow bridges if possible

Anh ideas?

Afraid not, you’d think it would be an easy development really.
Looks like a truck/caravan sat-nav could have such options

Through the website you might be able to edit the road - been far too long since I last looked at the options.

Copilot do a truck/caravan version that you can input your height/width/weight.

It is subscription though.

I will just have to put up with it. It's not like it's a range rover

If I didn't care about the wheels it wouldn't be so hard smile

Waze editors can edit roads to mark them as "narrow" and higher level editors can even specify the exact width but I think it's a fairly new addition and I doubt this is has been implemented in many places (yet).

If you report the bridges in question in the app a local editor with sufficient access might update it for you (and future users) but I'm not aware of any proactive initiatives to update the whole map with such information (but I'm not as active on the editor groups as I once was).

I don't know how the app itself would handle the information though because there's nowhere to tell it that you're in anything but a private car / taxi / EV or motorbike so it won't be able to say "vehicle is X wide, avoid routes where roads are X wide or less".

Hmm the one I had the trouble with is just a 2meter standard width restriction but no idea where the 2 meter is measured as it had brick walls and kerbs. I'd only gone this way as the motorway was closed and it was where the nav took me

Haha

That's the easier side coming from the other direction the kerb come in to funnel you onto the bridge yet the back of the cars still in the width restriction it may not have been so bad in the day light but at midnight it wasn't great fun

Least in a land rover you have some height and fatter tyre walls

Following with interest!

Some of them certainly don't seem as wide as stated, or have a bend to be really evil.

Just to confirm that Waze does not support width restrictions (or height or weight) currently.
I believe this is the case for all free apps and the only option are subscription SatNavs for commercial vehicles.

Unfortunately, Waze are unlikely to introduce this soon, the main reason being the fear of litigation if the information is wrong and and bridge strike or similar occurs.

The 'Narrow Street' mapping option mentioned above doesn't help as it restricts all cars/taxis and only allows motorcycles.
It's rarely used in the UK and was designed for other countries with narrow alleyways and city streets that are too narrow for cars.

Many width restrictions are more a deterrent and the actual restriction is not as severe. We have a camper van which is a panel van conversion so no coachwork body.. When coming across a restricted width and unsure if possible to proceed I have parked up nearby and waited for a white van or Amazon delivery van to go though. So far one has always come along and I was able to follow.

That said I don't think I will ever take any vehicle across Marlow bridge and the resections there are evil.
