Due to my grandfather passing away recently, the family parrot has come to stay at my house with me. She has to be upstairs in my bedroom in order to get a good look out of the window and because she likes to be in your company all the time and I spend most of my time up in the bedroom playing on the computer, etc with her in the cage or on my shoulder.

I got a Xiaomi P1 air purifier as it seemed that nearly every review praised it heavily for its abilities at its price, It cost me about 140 euros. As I have a smart home, integration is also a bonus for me.

The reason I need the purifier is because the parrot (Alexandrine Parrot) emits a fine powdery dander almost constantly. If the sun shines through the window and she is walking around, it follows her almost like a cloud of mist. If she fluffs up and ruffles her feathers or has a scratch in the sunlight, it looks like someone vaporizing!

Her dander will likely build up so quickly on my bedroom furniture which is black, making for constant housework. And also given that I am sleeping in the same room, I don't want to be breathing in this stuff all the time and end up with bird fancier's lung or something like that. In the interest of the parrot as well, I vape a fair bit and like to do so in bed so I want something that protects her as well. Otherwise I will just have to go downstairs which if it can't protect against then I will have to do.

As someone who has never used such a device before, where do I place it? Do I put it right next to her cage as close as possible to the source of the contamination or will leaving it so close cause it to block incredibly quickly? I'm imagining in my head possibly it's like when you hoover up brick dust with a hoover, It just jams up and cakes so quickly.

If anyone else is a pet owner or has knowledge of air purifiers and could advise me on just how close or far it should be to her cage. I would be most grateful thumbup
